Yomiague – Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Yomiague ("the App") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the App. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
Information We Collect
- Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile information (name, email address, profile photo) and your Firebase user ID (UID) via Firebase Authentication.
- Content you add: URLs you save, derived article titles, extracted content, metadata (e.g., language, page count), and per-item states (e.g., starred, archived). You may also configure reading and display preferences (e.g., language, text-to-speech rates).
- Device and usage information: App and device identifiers, app version, basic device characteristics, and usage diagnostics needed to operate and improve the service.
- Advertising identifiers (mobile): On supported platforms, the app and its ad partners may access platform advertising identifiers (e.g., AAID/IDFA) and related signals to show and measure ads subject to your consent and platform settings.
- Approximate location: Ad SDKs may infer coarse location (e.g., from IP address) for ad delivery and measurement.
- Service logs: The backend records basic operational logs (e.g., request timestamps, error messages, URL hostnames) to run and debug the pipeline. Infrastructure providers may process IP addresses as part of normal operations.
- Cookies/storage (web only): Firebase Authentication may use browser storage to keep you signed in.
The App does not sell personal information. The App may include third‑party advertising SDKs to show ads and measure performance.
How We Use Information
- Provide and maintain the service: Authenticate you, store your saved items, extract article content, and support read‑aloud features.
- Advertising and analytics: Show ads, limit ad frequency, and measure ad performance and interactions. Where required, we request consent for ad personalization. You can manage preferences using platform controls described below.
- Safety, security, and debugging: Detect, prevent, and address abuse, outages, and errors; improve reliability based on aggregated, pseudonymized insights.
Third‑Party Services (Processors)
- Google Firebase: Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Functions, Hosting/Storage. Data may be stored and processed in Google Cloud regions (the project is configured for Firestore in NAM5/US).
- Advertising partners (e.g., Google AdMob): Delivery and measurement of advertisements, including use of device signals and advertising identifiers subject to platform policies and your consent.
Each provider processes data under its own terms and privacy policies. We are not currently using external AI providers (e.g., Gemini) for content processing.
Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your data. We share information only with service providers listed above (including advertising partners) and when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or with your explicit direction.
Data Retention
- Your saved items and preferences are retained until you delete them or delete your account. Operational logs are retained for a limited period consistent with service operation and security.
Your Choices and Rights
- Manage content: Add, edit, star/archive, or delete your saved items at any time.
- Sign out: You can sign out from the App. You may also revoke Google access via your Google account settings.
- Ad personalization controls: On mobile, you can reset or limit the platform advertising identifier and manage ad personalization in system settings (e.g., Android Ads settings, iOS App Tracking settings). Where required (e.g., EEA), we present consent prompts you can manage.
- Access or deletion requests: Contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data associated with your account.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Data Security
We use Firebase Security Rules and industry‑standard protections. No system can be 100% secure, but we work to protect your information during transmission and at rest.
International Transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other locations where Firebase and Google Cloud operate.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above when changes are made.
